iWave offers this IP core in two different architecture variants, each optimized for different system requirements.
In this variant, each Tx Port is associated with a dedicated Virtual Link (VL). The application logic sends data to the required Tx Port, and the MUX block combines all Tx Port streams into a single flow toward the UDP/IP stack which is then handled by the TRC and scheduler to send over redundant links.
On the receive side, Ethernet frames from the dual redundant links are handled by Integrity and Redundancy Checker modules which validates and discards corrupted or duplicate frames, and ensures only one valid frame is forwarded to Rx Port over separate AXI stream interface.
This variant provides following significant advantages,
2. Variant with Single Stream Interface
The application AXI stream interface data is transmitted by the TX Logic of the ARINC 664 end system, where VL ID and BAG value is appended to the data at the Tx Logic. Unlike the multi-stream variant, this design does not maintain a separate data path for each VL instead, all VL data is multiplexed through a common transmission path.
On the receive side, Ethernet frames from the dual redundant links are handled by Integrity and Redundancy Checker modules which validates and discards corrupted or duplicate frames, and ensures only one valid frame is presented to the user over the AXI stream interface along with VL ID. Redundancy enable/disable capability as well as integrity Checking enable/disable capability is limited to per port.
This variant offers considerable advantages, positioning it as a highly efficient for the avionics application,
iWave’s ARINC 664 end system IP core transforms Ethernet into a deterministic and fault-tolerant communication backbone tailored for avionics. By integrating concepts such as Virtual Links, bounded jitter and latency, strict integrity checking, and dual network redundancy. Ensures robust, high-speed, and reliable data exchange for critical avionics applications, making it the backbone of communication in modern aircraft systems.
iWave also offers an ARINC 664 Tester product that ensures compliance, robustness, and reliability of avionics networks by supporting redundancy handling, traffic shaping, and error injection features., it is ideally suited for verifying performance under real-world operating conditions. An intuitive GUI further enhances usability by allowing seamless configuration, monitoring, and visualization of system health and data flow as highlighted in the demonstration video.
