A global provider of simulation projection systems aimed to deliver realistic driving environments and professional driver training. Their visualization technology supports multi-display setups and real-world driving.

Challenges & Requirements

The customer required a high-performance embedded platform capable of driving multiple synchronized displays while maintaining high resolution and frame rates for a seamless visual experience. They needed a reliable codec mechanism to end-to-end latency and ensure real-time video processing performance. Additionally, the entire solution had to be implemented efficiently on FPGA logic to enable precise control, low-latency rendering, and robust system reliability suitable for advanced driving simulator environments.

  • High-Performance SoM Integration: ZU19EG Zynq® UltraScale+™ MPSoC System on Module for real-time video and signal processing.
  • High-Resolution Video: 4K/8K capture from 12G-SDI or HDMI 2.1 for clear surgical visuals.
  • Multi-Display Synchronization: Enabled control of multiple projection displays through HDMI 2.0, DP 1.2a, and extendable interfaces via programmable logic.
  • Low-Latency Video Processing: Optimized encoding, decoding, scaling, and overlay on a FPGA platform to achieve end-to-end latency.
  • Advanced Connectivity: Leveraged Quad Cortex-A53, Dual Cortex-R5, and Mali GPU cores with high-speed interfaces PCIe, Ethernet, USB 3.0, and SATA — for efficient data throughput.
